Hanson Contracting, a UK-based construction company, has re-secured its contract with Dorset Highways for maintaining the county’s road network.

Dorset Highways is a government agency, which is responsible for maintenance to public highways and footpaths in Dorset, a county in South West England.

The new agreement will be effective from 1 April this year and has a potential duration of ten years with a total value of more than £100m.

"Hanson submitted a very attractive proposal in both price and quality and also put forward a number of exciting new initiatives."

Dorset highways and emergency planning service director Andrew Martin said: “We are delighted to be able to extend our partnership arrangements with Hanson into a third generation contract.

“We have worked successfully together for the last 15 years to deliver capital maintenance and highway improvement programme across the county.

“Hanson submitted a very attractive proposal in both price and quality and also put forward a number of exciting new initiatives which we are looking forward to developing and implementing as the contract progresses.”

Since 2002, Hanson has been working with Dorset Highways as a main supply contractor for various projects including laying over one million tonnes of asphalt and delivering high profile projects.

Hanson Contracting major projects director Denis Curran said: “We are very pleased to be awarded this new partnership contract and to extend our collaborative working arrangements with Dorset County Council.

"We look forward to delivering a highquality highways service.”

The construction company also worked with Dorset Highways and carried out works including the Swanage recycling centre and most recently the A338 Bournemouth spur road upgrade.
