The seventh annual Worst Roads campaign in Canada will start next week with the theme “It’s In Your Hands”.

The campaign will list the Top 20 Worst Roads in Ontario based on people’s votes.

The seven-week campaign will cover 30 communities and will work towards pressuring municipalities to use $1.9bn of federal money and a $400m provincial government grant for major road infrastructure projects.

Campaigns in previous years have resulted in renovations of more than 90% of roads that had made it to the list of the Top 20 Worst Roads.

The campaign is being sponsored by the Canadian Automobile Association and the Ontario Road Builders’ Association.

The citizens of Ontario can vote for the worst roads from 12 August onwards up to 30 September.

The campaign this year covers highways and bridges in addition to roads.
