Mikros Systems Traffic Monitoring Systems for Road Traffic
Mikros Systems has been providing quality products for the road traffic engineering field since the late seventies.
Monitoring equipment for road traffic systems
The Mikros Systems product range has grown from simple traffic counters through complex vehicle classifiers and high and low-speed weigh in motion systems, to complex integrated road management systems incorporating state-of-the-art communications and information systems (intelligent transportation systems).
Mikros Systems supports its hardware with comprehensive support software transforming traffic data into knowledge.
We are primarily active in the southern African development counties (SADEC) region but also in Australia, North and South America, Eastern Europe, India, China and other African countries.
Traffic event logger for remote weigh point applications
To protect current road infrastructure it is imperative to reliably monitor the axle loads on a road. For this, Mikros Systems’ RAKTEL traffic event logger range interfaced to any of the currently available weigh in motion (WIM) sensors is used.
The systems are primarily used for long-term data collection and control systems such as screening lanes at overload control centres and toll plazas. For remote weigh point applications the HSWIM RAKTEL interfaces to violation and ANPR cameras.
Low-speed weigh in motion system
The Mikros Systems MASS5000 product is a portable low speed weigh in motion (LSWIM) product is used mobile overload screening and in-situ calibration of HSWIM systems.
Automated traffic data collection
The RAKTEL traffic data logger and the TrafBase provide the basis for fully automated traffic data collection.
The system uses the available communications network, automatically extracts the information from the loggers, validates the data and populates the data base. Standard and custom reports are then automatically disseminated to users.
Toll audit systems
Mikros Systems provides toll audit systems that are independent from toll plazas. Typical applications will be for clients who need to audit toll operations performed by subcontracted parties.
These audit systems compare the expected revenue against the actual declared toll revenue. Other applications for these systems is in the field of shadow tolling where private road operators are funded by authorities on the basis of actual traffic recorded.
