Guest of honor premier Peter-Harry Carstensen cut the red ribbon on November 12th, 2007
On November 12th, 2007, the company DESIGNA Verkehrsleittechnik GmbH, which has a long-standing tradition in Schleswig-Holstein, presented its largest parking management system in the world so far in Malaysia. Peter-Harry Carstensen, premier of Schleswig-Holstein, along with a group of delegates from the region, participated in the celebrations personally and also marked the start of this major project by cutting the traditional red ribbon.
This parking management system is part of Malaysia’s largest shopping mall and handles up to 30,000 visitor vehicles in two adjacent car parks daily. This makes it world class in terms of complexity and technical standards.
“We have been in the parking business globally for over 50 years. We develop, produce, install and service various sizes of parking management systems. Systems like this one are just the challenge we look for. Together with our customers, we make sure that people visiting shopping malls, airports or hospitals feel comfortable with the system upon entry, because everything is processed fully automatically,” explains to Dr Thomas Waibel, manager of DESIGNA Verkehrsleittechnik GmbH.
Well over 6,000 DESIGNA systems in more than 55 countries are used on a daily basis, and two more are added to this somewhere in the world almost every working day. These range from single parking garages to integrated intelligent system solutions that manage thousands of airport parking spaces or that are on a city-wide network. DESIGNA customers from Dubai to Singapore, from Warsaw to Cape Town, are provided the commercial success that they strive for through the PM ABACUS and SLIMPARK products.
The formula for success consists of high tech solutions based on and with interfaces adhering to recognized standards (Microsoft Windows, Windows Vista, Microsoft server technology, SQL-Server 2005, Ethernet, and others) coupled with the concept of customized modifications and individual solutions to meet the a customer’s specific demands.
This business based in Schleswig-Holstein has managed to prevail against international competition. Thus proving that this northern German company is one of the world leaders in its field.
