The opening of the new Glentress Peel visitor centre by Forestry Commission Scotland is immediately seeing visitors actively using the chip and pin facility on the parking machines.
Laura Stewart, who is in charge of Forestry Commission Scotland’s parking portfolio, is already encouraged by the number of visitors using their credit and debit cards.
Metric Parking has installed a total of three Aura pay and display parking machines at Glentress Forest near Peebles in the Scottish borders.
The tariff for the car parks is £1 an hour for any vehicle and £3 a day for cars.
Laura commented, “These are the first chip and pin machines in Forestry Commission Scotland and the facility is being actively used which is encouraging.”
They are also the first of a total of 52 Metric Aura machines to be installed for Forestry Commission Scotland in a rolling programme which Laura expects will be completed by the end of September.
