Metric have received a large order from the National Transport Authority (NTA) for its metric.mobile POS ticketing machine, which was successfully tested by Wexford Bus last October.
The ticketing system will be supplied to coach and bus operators in Dublin, Ireland, and surrounding areas over the coming months.
The metric.mobile POS is the new handheld ticketing machine from METRIC (formally known as Almex) that was launched in Europe in late 2014.
The tablet sized device is a complete mobile electronic ticketing machine (ETM) with a high-resolution touch screen, integrated printer and card reader for smart cards, including Ireland’s LEAP card.
The rollout of the ticketing machines has already begun with Swords Express, and will continue with Matthews Coaches and Ashbourne Connect. The next phase of the project is to plan the installation for one of Ireland’s largest private bus and coach operators.
The metric.mobile POS is currently in operation with Deutsche Bahn, the German National Rail operator, with 10,000 devices active across their network for ticket sales.
