Metric Parking has won a tender to supply solar and hybrid powered pay-and-display parking machines for a new council car park providing hospital visitor and staff parking. The 480-capacity Stott Lane car park in Salford, leased from the city council by Salford Royal Hospital Trust, has a throughput of 1,400 vehicles a day and is currently controlled by a pay-on-foot system manned by hospital staff.
The car park has been used by visitors during hospital redevelopment work and as part of a re-organisation two further car parks have been constructed within the hospital’s own grounds.
From October, following expiry of the current lease, Urban Vision Partnership Ltd, a joint venture company, which includes Salford City Council as a partner, will operate the Stott Lane car park and the parking tariff will range from £1 for one hour to £6 for six hours and above.
"We are delighted that Salford City Council and the Urban Vision Partnership have chosen Metric and the Elite machine to deliver this project," said Richard Boultbee, UK sales & marketing manager, Metric Group.
The Elite pay-and-display machines, which will have qwerty keypads for registration entry, will be installed over the coming month for the new pay-and-display system to go ‘live’ on October 1.
