After the completion of the first two phases, Smart Lynx Ltd. has successfully won the tender for the third phase of the deployment of its smart parking solution in the 5th District of Budapest, Hungary. With the soon to be completed implementation of the third installation phase Budapest will become one of the largest cities in the world where on-street parking is smarter than ever.
With this new smart solution Hungarian-developed, magnetic detection-based, extremely accurate, long-life, NB-IoT parking sensors will have been installed in all 5,200 parking spaces in the downtown of the Hungarian capital.
These sensors detect the occupancy of a particular parking space, making this information available for drivers via a free mobile application (called Parker), and by analysing historical occupancy data the system provides essential operational information to the organisation responsible for parking management and operation, that they previously could only have assumptions about. With the help of this information, future decision-making concerning the parking infrastructure will be much simpler, as the potential impact of a modification can be easily determined based on real-life parking data.
The district ordered the deployment of the system in three phases, so relying on the experiences of the first and second phases, with this third expansion, we will make everyday parking easier for at least 350 drivers a day, saving 500 minutes, 800l of fuel and 1.2t of CO2 emissions per week. In addition to that, by introducing smart parking, the district also aims to reduce downtown traffic and encourage the use of public transport.
