International Road Dynamics (IRD) has announced that it has been awarded a C$1.34m contract to provide a high speed weigh-in-motion (WIM) and verification system for a new commercial vehicle enforcement facility (CVEF) in Solano County, California. This system will be used by local enforcement personnel for selecting and directing commercial vehicles into the CVEF and by Caltrans for traffic planning purposes.
IRD will supply an integrated system including its world-leading single-load cell and bending plate WIM scales, with its state-of-the-art iSINC controller electronics. The traffic data information collected by the system is essential for pavement studies, highway monitoring, capacity studies, accident rate calculations, and analysis of truck transport practices.
IRD’s expertise and experience in commercial vehicle enforcement and traffic data provide customers the opportunity to receive a comprehensive set of products and services from one source.
Mr Terry Bergan, IRD’s president and CEO commented, "We are pleased to be participating in this project which expands our significant deployment of over 500 lanes of traffic data collection systems using weigh-in-motion in California. Under this contract, we will be providing systems and solutions which are recognized worldwide as the best in the industry."
