The Well-Connected Alliance have decided to self-perform the delivery of the Tunnel and Traffic Management and Control System (TTMCS) through SICE.
SICE will be responsible for the design, supply, installation and commission of their in-house OMCS solution, SIDERA, to control all the traffic (ATMS) and plant (PMCS) devices in the Waterview tunnels project.
SICE is already working to deliver all the mechanical and electrical systems in the double bore 2.5km tunnels in Auckland. The project is being delivered under an alliance model between NZ Transport Agency, Fletcher Construction, McConnel Dowell, Obayashi Corporation, BECA, Parsons & Brinkerhoff, and Tonkin and Taylor, where SICE has a major stake in the M&E Sub-Alliance.
The solution will allow the Transport Agency and the Auckland Council organisation, Auckland Transport, to keep their ‘One Network Operation’ concept by means of interfacing SICE’s solution to their current back office system. The interface will be built using the most modern C2C technology and leveraging in the lessons learnt in the two most recent OMCS projects delivered by SICE for RMS in NSW.
The award of the contract is the result of a long competitive process where SICE has demonstrated to be the most cost effective solution while providing an unparalleled state of the art technical solution that will put Transport Agency at the forefront of the Intelligence Traffic Systems.
