Alberta Canada has introduced 511 Mobile, the enhanced version of web-based traveller information service 511 Alberta designed for viewing on most mobile devices.

The new version was officially launched by the Transportation Minister Wayne Drysdale during the anniversary celebration of 511 Alberta.

Minister Drysdale said: "While 511 Mobile makes it easier to access critical road information on the go, please keep in mind that using your mobile device while driving is illegal and extremely dangerous.

"By using Alberta’s official road reports at 511 Alberta, you are taking control of your own safety."

"Motorists should invite their passengers to check 511 Mobile or pull over safely before checking it themselves."

Alberta’s 511 Mobile offers a GPS function that can provide a user’s location on the 511 Alberta map, allowing travellers to locate themselves in reference to the province’s highway network when they need to call for help or report an incident or collision.

511 Alberta provides access to over 100 highway cameras, along with interactive maps linking to real-time traffic information on highway conditions; weather information; construction updates and incident reports such as detours and closures among others.

To date, 511 Alberta provided assistance to 1.2 million web visitors through reliable, up-to-date road information, enabling them to make safer travel decisions.
