The Brazilian Government has floated bids for a 25-year concession of highway BR-101 in the south-eastern state of Espírito Santo that requires an investment of $1.13bn.

The 476km highway spans northward from the Espírito Santo-Rio de Janeiro state line to the town of Macuri in neighboring Bahia state.

The winning company will build 21.6km of side roads, install pedestrian walkways and speed control equipment by the fifth year of the concession.

The company will have to expand half of the route by the sixth year and the other half by the tenth year.

The bidding process is expected to start by 17 November this year.
