Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS) has opened the Cubic Innovation Centre in London, UK, to provide advanced mobility solutions to address future global transportation requirements.

Through the innovation centre, the company will collaborate with its partners to develop solutions to address challenges that affect the quality of life in metropolitan areas such as urban growth, congestion of transportation across multiple travel modes, including roads, bikes, walking, rail, metro and bus, and the interaction between these modes.

"The future of transportation infrastructure hinges on the effective application of technology and practical solutions for mobility issues."

Cubic Transportation Systems president Matt Cole said: "The future of transportation infrastructure hinges on the effective application of technology and practical solutions for mobility issues.

"We selected London for the innovation centre because of the city’s reputation for groundbreaking developments, including work by our customer Transport for London (TfL).

"Through the centre’s work, we hope to improve services and reduce costs for more customers while enhancing the traveller experience in line with our NextCity strategy, which integrates payment and information systems across all transportation methods."

The London Innovation Centre will showcase top technologies from Cubic and its partner network of customers, industry experts and leading universities, which will then be evaluated and selected for further advancement.

TfL former commissioner and Network Rail chairman Sir Peter Hendy said: "The innovative use of technology is fundamentally important if we are to meet the transport challenges of the 21st century, particularly on the rail network.
