The provincial government of Ontario, Canada, has said it will have completed 224 transport infrastructure projects by the end of this year.

The projects include the contruction of 14 new bridges, repairs to another 99 and the completion of 1,281km of highway.

A number of GO Transit infrastructure projects have also been created, including 1,645 new parking spaces for commuters at stations.

There are more than 16,500km of highways and 2,800 bridges in Ontario. Since 2003, the province has invested $14bn to design, repair and expand highways and bridges, along with $6.1bn to improve GO Transit service and expand routes.
