Smart parking company Streetline and IT company Cisco have unveiled a new jointly developed, camera-based detection solution for parking applications at the Cisco Live! conference.

The new solution can work in conjunction with or lieu of in-ground sensors, which are effective for detecting vehicles in individually marked spaces while the video can deliver a level of efficiency for other use cases, such as unmarked zones and spaces.

“We are disrupting the smart city space with offerings of parking solutions, which are both technically robust and provide a real business value for customers.”

Cities, universities and corporate campuses can capture parking information to make informed and effective decisions, using a combination of sensor and video-based information.

The Streetline suite of applications infer the data and produce robust and accurate analytics for city customers through ParkSight, guidance data through Parker and ParkerMap, violation data for enforcement personnel through Guided Enforcement, as well as the entire Streetline application suite.

Streetline and Cisco also debuted a new, integrated Internet of Things (IoT) gateway, which combines the former’s low-power mesh network and Cisco Smart+Connected Wi-Fi.

The Streetline IoT gateway for the Cisco connected grid router (CGR) enables Cisco Wi-Fi to easily add Streetline’s patented smart parking guidance, analytics and enforcement platform as a component of their smart city infrastructure.

Streetline CEO Zia Yusuf said that the company is looking forward to seeing the new product developments come to fruition after two years of working with Cisco.

“With the release of the video-based detection solution and the Streetline IoT gateway for the CGR, we are disrupting the smart city space with offerings of parking solutions, which are both technically robust and provide a real business value for customers,” Yusuf said.

Streetline and Cisco are currently working together in San Mateo and San Carlos, California, US.
