Autonomous vehicle development company NextDroid has selected Real-Time Innovations’ (RTI) solution Connext DDS as the connectivity framework for its self-driving vehicles.

NextDroid is currently engaged in the development of multiple autonomous systems and intends to use RTI’s technology as part of modular software architecture to carry out real-time processing of various sensor data across a distributed computing platform.

The Connext DDS solution offers the essential framework to enable communication between different nodes within the autonomous car.

It also provides the necessary tools to balance the communication requirements of various subsystems within the vehicle and ensure a smooth flow of information.

NextDroid depends on RTI to manage the full scope of messaging in its autonomous systems.

The data transmission between NextDroid’s modules is highly varied. Sensor data of high bandwidth within the company’s systems requires timely delivery to multiple nodes.

The data is intermingled with control signals and event-based messages of various bandwidth, latency and reliability.

RTI solution will be responsible for ensuring that all these messages are delivered to the controllers with minimal overhead.
