Transcore has received a $272m contract for ten years from the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) in the US to update its tolling technology and service.

It also requires Transcore to design, build, operate and maintain an advanced customer service centre solution to provide flexibility in MDTA operations and improve overall customer experience.

Under the contract, the company will deploy its Integrity back office system that will process transactions from MDTA’s eight tolled facilities.

The system will also provide financial and enterprise reporting, strengthen interaction with the MDOT Motor Vehicles Administration, E-ZPass, and law enforcement stakeholders.

Following the implementation, motorists will be able to review and replenish their accounts, make payments and update their information online.

“This next generation of our tolling system will enable us to support our customers and operations for many years into the future.”

It will also enable them to sign up for roadway and account updates through email, text messaging and new social media applications.

MDTA’s executive director Kevin C. Reigrut said: “This next generation of our tolling system will enable us to support our customers and operations for many years into the future.”

TransCore is also planning to establish a major new base of operation in this state.

TransCore president Tracy Marks said: “We are honoured that MDTA has placed its trust in TransCore to deliver an integrated solution that provides its tolling customers and community partners with the highest levels of convenience, reliability, and security.

“TransCore remains focused on delivering the best products, services, and value to our customers and is excited for the opportunity to partner with an agency like MDTA who shares in this vision to deliver the same value to their customers.”
