Engineering firm Acrow has bought the assets and employees of UK-based Mabey Bridge for an undisclosed sum.

Mabey Bridge operates as a subsidiary of Mabey Holdings, a family owned engineering services group.

The combined entity is intended to become a strong operator in bridge infrastructure and engineering, Acrow said.

Acrow CEO Bill Killeen said: “Mabey is a business that we have long thought would be an outstanding fit with Acrow.

“We have great respect for Mabey and the strong business its team has built, and we are excited to bring together the immensely talented Acrow and Mabey teams from around the globe to drive our businesses to new strata of success.”

“Due to our admiration for the strength of competition with Acrow over the years, we believe this is the best solution in strengthening the future of both businesses.”

Both companies specialise in accelerated construction, pre-engineered modular bridging solutions to assist in developing, improving and repairing essential infrastructure in urban and rural areas.

Under the deal, both firms will continue to operate under their own brands.

Mabey Holdings group CEO Juliette Stacey said: “Due to our admiration for the strength of competition with Acrow over the years, we believe this is the best solution in strengthening the future of both businesses.”

Acrow is engaged in the development and implementation of bridge infrastructure projects in more than 80 countries, covering Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East region.

The company offers a complete range of modular steel bridging solutions for vehicle, rail, military, and pedestrian use.
