Cheltenham-based AGD System’s 342 multi-lane highway monitoring vehicle detector has secured UK Home Office Type Approval (HOTA).

The company noted that this is the only single frequency modulated continuous wave radar system to have a multilane speed enforcement system through the rigorous HOTA process.

The Type Approved HADECS3 multi-lane speed enforcement system, which is equipped with 342 radar, will be part of the enforcement strategy in Highways England’s Smart Motorways initiative.

"This radar helps provide critical information to authorities so that they can measure the speed of passing vehicles for enforcement and monitoring purposes."

This radar helps provide critical information to authorities so that they can measure the speed of passing vehicles for enforcement and monitoring purposes.

Further, it offers high-frame rate data capture; high-fidelity speed and range measurements; has speed measurement of up to 300kph; comes with continuous self-checking techniques; and has in-built target simulation hardware.

It operates in the 24GHz band, and can monitor up to eight target events, reported Traffictechnologytoday.com.

The patent pending technology’s detection platform comes with fixed and mobile deployment options.
