APT Skidata, a UK-based parking technology company, has secured two contracts from Land Securities, a UK’s commercial property company to upgrade the parking systems at Gunwharf Quays (Portsmouth) and Lewisham shopping centres.

As part of the contract, APT Skidata will be responsible for installation of APT Skidata’s new Power.Gate control columns, to control entry and exit of the vehicles in the shopping centres.

APT Skidata strategic business development officer Nigel Young said: “Gunwharf Quays is one of Land Securities featured centres, so to support the overall visitor experienceit has opted for a number of new features to improve the look and feel of the parking environment.

“The control columns and barrier housings will be fitted with illuminated contour stripes and the barrier arm with internally illuminated to cycle through red, amber and green as the barrier moves from being closed to fully open.

“The control columns are fitted with large full colour TFT display and the Skidata software will allow Land Securities to load both custom graphics or rolling advertising, including live video streaming.”

The company claims that its Power.Gate provides operators with immediate benefits, as well as options to adopt alternative ticketing types in the future.

Presently, the control columns that will be installed at both sites will be equipped with optic scanners which will have the ability to read e-tickets on smartphones or 1D or QR barcodes issued as validations, discounts or promotional vouchers on smartphones.

The parking technology company further added that all the columns will provide full ticket processing using its crosswise barcode issuers, and readers and RFID proximity readers will be offering the touch point for registered users and season ticket holders.

At Lewisham, APT Skidata will be installing a combination of Easy.Cash and Credit.Cash payment machines at strategic positions across the car park area.

At Gunwharf Quays, the company will be installing nearly ten automatic payment stations, including six Power.Cash machines that use the very latest in coin and banknote processing hardware.
