The City of Palmdale in California, US, has selected McCain’s Transparity TMS to update the city’s central traffic management software.

The new system will replace McCain’s first-generation central software, which Palmdale has been using since 2003.

As part of a citywide effort to modernise infrastructure, the city has chosen to upgrade to Transparity TMS, which complies with ATC and NTCIP national industry standards.

The system will provide an increased capacity for centrally monitoring and controlling the agency’s signal communication system.

In addition, engineers will be equipped with improved data collection and analysis tools necessary for improving overall traffic flow across the city.

"The win affirms McCain’s capabilities as a safe, reliable, and flexible provider of traffic management systems"

McCain sales director Nathan Welch said that the company is excited to partner with Palmdale on this landmark project showcasing the benefits of adopting industry standards and cutting-edge products.

"The win affirms McCain’s capabilities as a safe, reliable, and flexible provider of traffic management systems," Welch said.

The latest project outlines the integration the city’s signal network into the County of Los Angeles Information Exchange Network (IEN), which allows member agencies to connect and communicate through an open architecture for sharing real-time intersection data and control between jurisdictions.

McCain is a provider of advanced traffic control equipment that protects the public, reduces congestion, and promotes urban mobility. In March, the company launched its rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB), the latest technology in pedestrian safety that helps reduce crashes between vehicles and pedestrians at unmarked intersections and crossings.
