The Volvo Cluster 90 has become the first Volvo car to feature a live traffic service, which has been provided by INRIX.

Beginning this month, drivers of this vehicle will receive real-time and predictive traffic flow information for routes, travel times and accidents alerts.

The Volvo Cluster 90 is equipped with Sensus Connect, an onboard infotainment and navigation solution that allows drivers to find and pay for parking, discover new places, stream their favourite music and much more.

Data analytics company INRIX’s technology offers accurate real-time, dynamic and predictive flow of traffic information that will allow Volvo drivers in 42 countries find the fastest route with precise ETAs to their destination.

INRIX will provide traffic information for every major road, including highways, arterials, city streets and other secondary roads.

Volvo Cars connected navigation and services manager Fredrik Marthinsson said: "The addition of INRIX Traffic to Sensus Connect is the next step in providing drivers with useful services for their everyday life in the car."

Deriving traffic information from its crowdsourced network of connected vehicles and insight from thousands of public and private sources, Inrix offers drivers with a real-time traffic service, which covers more than five million miles in 42 countries.

INRIX’s real-time traffic solution is being initially offered in the new Volvo XC90, following which it will be rolled out to other Volvo models.
