Xerox Parking, a provider of off-street parking management systems, has plans to launch its Codex System product in North and South American markets.

Launched earlier this year, Xerox Codex System makes use of 2D barcode contactless technology rather than the regular magnetic stripe technology.

Ticket reading is faster as it uses a non-motorised mechanism, which reduces the processing time. Additionally, the new system requires less maintenance and operational costs.

"More than 1,700 Xerox Parking systems have been installed across the globe."

Codex is based on the Multipark platform that has been developed by Xerox Parking.

This platform enables web access necessary for local, and centralised management, it also offers web services interfaces to online booking systems and e-commerce applications.

It supports all types of payments including cash, contactless cards and mobile phones.

Xerox has a presence in the European and Middle Eastern markets and is looking to tap the American markets starting with the US.
