German automobile manufacturer Porsche has introduced an electric car charging mobile app and service that incorporates all aspects of the charging process.

This Porsche Charging Service can find all available and suitable charging stations for the elective vehicle. It is also capable of utilising centrally stored data to manage the payment process in multiple currencies and countries.

Porsche’s navigation system and the free app can guide users to reach suitable charging points.

The service is not limited to Porsche vehicles and is available for all hybrid and electric automobiles.

“Users can identify themselves at the charging points using a QR code from the app or with the ‘Porsche ID card’, which will be delivered to users following registration to the service.”

Porsche Sales and Marketing executive board member Detlev von Platen said: “In addition to fascinating vehicles, building a customer-friendly charging infrastructure is the key to achieving long-term success for electromobility.

“With the Porsche Charging Service, we are offering our customers a central digital platform that simplifies every aspect of the charging process. As a result, it is even easier to integrate charging into everyday life.”

The app can be downloaded on all iOS or Android mobile devices. It offers location and availability status of the charging stations in real time, as well as providing the cost of charging the vehicle.

Users can identify themselves at the charging points using a QR code from the app or with the ‘Porsche ID card’, which will be delivered to users following registration to the service.

Currently, the service is available in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium, and Finland.

It is expected to be expanded to other countries from the end of this year.
