Highways England has initiated the resurfacing works that will be carried out on the westbound carriageway of the M62 in East Yorkshire between junction 37 at Howden and junction 38.

The M62 is the only east-west motorway link across the north of England between the Midlands and Scotland.

As part of the resurfacing, contractors working for Highway England will be repainting the white line on the road and replacing the reflective studs.

"We are working hard to ensure disruption to traffic and the local community is kept to a minimum which is why work will be taking place overnight when traffic levels are lower."

Highways England project manager Mark Ramsden said: “When complete, drivers will benefit from safer and smoother journeys along this stretch of the M62 near Goole.

“We are working hard to ensure disruption to traffic and the local community is kept to a minimum which is why work will be taking place overnight when traffic levels are lower.”

Contractors will be working mainly during the night time with some daytime lane closures at times to reduce the overall time that is required to complete the improvement activities.

For safety reasons, Highways England will be closing the carriageway between 36 and 38 junctions with a clearly signed diversion in place.

Work is slated to be complete by 5 August this year, depending on weather conditions.
