The IXAS Zuid-Oost consortium has been chosen as the preferred bidder for the public-private partnership project to rebuild the A9 motorway in the Netherlands.

The scope of the project includes the design, build, management, maintenance and financing of the new and existing infrastructure of the motorway between Diemen and Holendrecht.

"The project has a total nominal value of approximately €700m."

The contractors will be responsible for the motorway reconstruction and expansion works, which include the bridge over the Gaasp River, the road surface on the A9 and the construction of a 3km overground tunnel.

The project has a total nominal value of approximately €700m, including a 20-year management and maintenance period after the new infrastructure becomes available.

The consortium consists of Ballast Nedam, Fluor, Heijmans and 3i Infrastructure, who will hold equal stake in the project. Ballast Nedam, Fluor and Heijmans will participate in the construction and operation phase with an equal share of one-third each.

The Directorate-General for Public Works & Water Management of the Netherlands Rijkswaterstaat is expected to award the contract on 19 August.
