NEC Technologies India (NEC India) has entered a strategic alliance with the Urban Mass Transit Company (UMTC) for intelligent mobility solutions.

The parties will jointly work on transport-related system integration projects and provide the solutions to rural and urban India.

NEC India is the wholly owned subsidiary of Japanese technology company NEC Corporation while UMTC is a joint venture (JV) of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.

The resulting offerings and consulting services will benefit state governments, local administrations and fleet operators, as well as smart city projects.

In addition, the partnership will deliver solutions such as planning and development, fleet procurement, funding support and intelligent transportation management systems (ITMS) deployment.

NEC India Transportation Business general manager and business unit head Pankaj Bhatiya said: “We are delighted to collaborate with UMTC to offer smart mobility solutions in India.

Under the partnership, NEC will offer ICT solutions such as Software as a Service (SaaS), Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and Data as a Service (DaaS) to facilitate an uninterrupted, multimodal travel experience for commuters across India.
