Vinci subsidiary Eurovia has secured a CZK3.2bn (€119m) contract to build a 14.7km section of the D35 motorway, the Czech Republic’s east-west corridor, between Èasy and Ostrov.

Eurovia specialises in transport infrastructure and urban development projects. It will be executing the project as part of a joint venture with Metrostav and Swietelsky Stavební.

Construction work will begin in August and will be carried out over 56 months.

“Eurovia said that the new contract further strengthened its partnership with the Czech Republic’s Road and Motorway Directorate.”

The project will see construction of 22 engineering structures, including a 451m viaduct over the Louèná valley, as well as a bridge that will cover a section of a major railway track near Uhersko station.

Eurovia said that the new contract further strengthened its partnership with the Czech Republic’s Road and Motorway Directorate.

Between 2014 and 2017, Eurovia secured four contracts for the modernisation of the D1 and completed new sections on the D8 at the end of 2016, as well as the D3 and D11 last year.

The projects are expected to improve the motorway network in the country that is expected to increase by more than half to reach 2,000km by 2030.

In February, VINCI subsidiary HEB Construction was chosen to be part of an alliance contract for construction for the Northern Corridor Improvements Project (NCI Project) in New Zealand.
