Jacobs has secured a position on Highways England’s Technical Advisor (TA) Framework for providing assistance related to the design, development and construction of capital road projects in the Roads Investment Strategy (RIS) 2.

RIS 2 is the strategy for investment in and management of England’s road network.

Under the six-year TA framework, Highways England has invested more than £1bn ($1.27bn) to make its road network safer and more reliable while boosting the economy.

Jacobs has been appointed to Lot 4 (South West and Midlands) of the Regional Delivery Partnership TA Framework.

The company will work as technical advisor with the Regional Delivery Integration Partner to execute the project.

The framework involves the economic evaluation, route decision, technical assurance and supervision of capital road projects.

In addition, Jacobs supports Highways England’s National Infrastructure and Regional Investment Programs, Smart Motorways Program and other programmes for Transport Scotland and the Welsh Government in the UK.

Jacobs People & Places Solutions UK / Europe senior vice-president and general manager and Digital Strategies global executive sponsor Donald Morrison said: “Jacobs and Highways England have a long-established relationship and this award provides an excellent opportunity to continue assisting them in the Regional Delivery Partnership as TA.

“We believe we are well-placed to support Highways England in achieving its framework vision through our involvement at all stages of the project lifecycle.”

Highways England is responsible for the planning, improving, operating and maintaining of England’s Strategic Road Network, which includes 4,300 miles of motorways and roads.

Last month, Highways England unveiled the details for a £27.4bn ($35.9bn) investment in the UK’s strategic road network.
