Atlanta and joint venture (JV) partner Essar Projects have won a Rs10bn ($206m) contract from National Highways Authority of India for the four-laning of the Lucknow-Sultanpur stretch of highway in the Uttar Pradesh state of India.

The project involves four-laning of 126km of National Highway-56 from 11.5km to 134.7km passing through Lucknow, Barabanki, Rai Bareilly and Sultanpur districts.

Work is being carried out under National Highway Development Programme Phase IVA.

The project will be carried out through a public private partnership on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis.

The contract has a concession period of 23 years including 2.5 years of construction span.
