A joint venture between BAM International and Danish firm Per Aarsleff has won an extension to its €38.5m Tanzanian road contract.

The contract is for section four of the 68km Tanzam Highway, which will stretch between Iringa and Mafenga.

The scope of the work includes rehabilitating and strengthening the carriageway, constructing paved shoulders and climbing lanes, and implementing traffic safety improvement measures.

The JV, which will carry out the work for the Tanzania National Roads Agency Tanroads, is currently completing the renovation of a 150km stretch between Iyovia and Iringa.

This contract for section four is expected to complete in 22 months.
