The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) in California, the US, has awarded a $32m contract to engineering firm Parsons for continued programme management expertise.

Under the five-year contract, Parsons will support the administration of a $4.3bn programme to enhance transportation and traffic management in the county.

Parsons will be responsible for providing a wide range of services, including project management, project controls, contracts management.

It will also support programme level activities such as quality management and document control.

Parsons will support programme and project management for freeways, interchanges, grade separations and other projects.

Parsons mobility solutions market executive vice-president Mark Fialkowski said: “We have worked with the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority for more than ten years, and we are proud to have their sustained confidence.

“We look forward to continuing to help the Authority improve the quality of life and mobility in San Bernardino County through safe, efficient and environmentally responsible transportation options.”

Last month, Parsons bagged a contract to provide programme management services for the City and County of Denver’s Advanced Transportation and Congestion Management Technologies Deployment (ATCMTD) Connected Vehicle (CV) project.

As part of this contract, Parsons agreed to oversee the data integration of Internet of Things (IoT) devices at intersections and in city vehicles such as snowplows, improving situational awareness for drivers and operators of the Traffic Management Center (TMC).

Under the contract, Parson will offer a wide range of solutions for the City and County of Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, to increase mobility and safety while reducing congestion and fighting climate change.
