The Road and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has approved $83.74m to construct phase IV of the Al Khail road improvement project.

The project involves the replacement of the existing R/A at the intersection of Al Khail Road and Umm Suqeim Road by a multilevel interchange to provide smooth access to areas in the vicinity of the project and for free traffic flow.

It also includes widening of the Al Khail Road from four to six lanes, and shifting and protecting the facilities and utilities affected by the free interchange.

The high traffic volume channels Sheikh Zayed Road and Emirates Road will also be provided with road corridors through this project.

The RTA will also undertake the parallel roads project and Dubai bypass road project to serve the burgeoning urban communities in the locality such as Jebel Ali Village, Al Furjan and Dubai land projects.

The projects’ completion has been abridged to synchronise the fourth phase of project with the opening of the first three phases.

The entire Khail Road Improvement Project is divided into six phases with the first three phases underway at an aggregate cost of AED1.8bn (approx. US$490m).
