Skanska has entered into a contract to design and build the new Kosciuszko Bridge in New York City, US.

In a Skanska-led venture with Kiewit and ECCO III Enterprises, the company will design and build new eastbound structures for the bridge, as well as demolish the existing bridge structures and buildings on acquired properties to clear the area for construction activities.

"Construction on the scheme is currently underway, with significant completion expected in early 2018."

The total value of the project is $555m, of which Skanska has a 45% share.

The project consists of the reconstruction and realignment of local at-grade streets impacted by new construction or demolition activities, in addition to the relocation of existing utilities from impacted local streets.

Among other works to be conducted under the project is the construction of a new drainage system and sewer facilities to collect and discharge stormwater from the new bridge structure.

Construction on the scheme is currently underway, with significant completion expected in early 2018.

Earlier this year, Skanska signed a contract with the Norwegian road administration for a major motorway project to extend the E18 motorway at Larvik, between the cities of Bommestad and Sky.
