Traffic management company Amberon has acquired Barrier Services in a bid to boost its service offerings.

Barrier Services provides highway fencing across the UK from its base in Caldicott, South Wales.

Amberon commercial director Daniel East told media sources: “This is a very exciting time for both businesses with many opportunities ahead, initially we can now offer our clients a one-stop solution for barrier installation, repair, and inspection along with the requisite traffic management.”

Amberon was founded in 2002 and has operated in the highways barrier market since gaining sector scheme approval in 2015.

“We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Barrier Services and have always recognised them as market leaders in their field.”

The company has a network of 22 depots across the UK and an annual revenue of more than £28m.

Amberon managing director Terry Musson stated: “We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Barrier Services and have always recognised them as market leaders in their field. By partnering with Amberon we can form an even stronger bond.”

The founders of Barrier Services, including Barbara and Phil Gibson, have run the company for more than 30 years and the sale will mark their exit from the business.

Barrier Services director Dan Raffles said: “We are going to miss Barbara and Phil immensely, but initially on a daily basis there will be no obvious changes to either business, with a clear effort to remain focused on the tasks at hand of offering a safe, efficient, highways barrier service to our customers.

“However, Neil and myself are welcoming the opportunity to expand Barrier Services and work with the team at Amberon.”

Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
