Uttlesford District Council in Essex, England, has launched a new cashless parking payment system, MiPermit, across all the council-managed car parks.

The MiPermit service, which is provided through the North Essex Parking Partnership (NEPP), will provide a new secure, cashless, paperless parking system through phone or secure online site.

Parking payment can be done through a smartphone app, online portal, text or phone call.

"There will be no more need to hunt for the right change to pay for parking or cut a shopping trip short to avoid over-running."

Uttlesford district council cabinet member for environment Susan Barker said: "Local businesses and residents have been urging us to review our parking schemes for many years; we have listened to their concerns and are delighted that we can introduce this new system today.

"There will be no more need to hunt for the right change to pay for parking or cut a shopping trip short to avoid over-running on an already bought parking ticket."

With the new system, the users can top up the parking stay real-time, reducing the risk of receiving any penalty.

Users can also opt to receive reminders when parking time is running out, a service available with a MiPermit smartphone app.

MiPermit is part of the North Essex Parking Partnership’s work to enhance the parking experience for clients across north Essex.
