Construction and development company Skanska has secured a $114m agreement to rehabilitate a highway in the north-east US.

The company will include the contract in US order bookings for the second quarter of this year.

Under the contract, Skanska will replace and renovate sections of the highway.

Construction is currently underway, with completion scheduled for the second quarter of 2022.

Earlier this month, Skanska USA secured a $94m contract with the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) to construct the East Midtown Greenway in New York City.

This contract is being reported in the US order bookings for the second quarter of this year.

Under this contract, Skanska is responsible for constructing a public walkway and bike path along the East River between East 53rd and East 61st Streets.

The firm will install a pedestrian bridge at East 54th Street.

Work on this contract is scheduled to begin in September and will run until early 2022.

Last month, Skanska won a $101m contract from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for construction of a four-lane highway with freeway connectors on State Route 905 in San Diego.

The contract will be recorded in the US order bookings for the second quarter of 2019.

Based at Otay Mesa, the project consists of two freeway-to-freeway flyover bridges that will link three highways of SR 125, SR11 and SR 905, alongside a 1.25-mile greenfield extension of SR11 to the east toward the future port-of-entry.

Otay Mesa is one of three ports of entry in the San Diego-Tijuana Mexico metropolitan region.

Construction of this project has started, with completion intended for September 2021.

Skanska is one of the leading construction and development companies in the US. In 2018, it reported sales of Skr67bn and around 9,000 employees throughout its operations.
