Two out of three Illinois road projects that are to obtain $46.5m in funds from the federal government will commence in the next two months.

The biggest project is the $35.5m rehabilitation of the Interstate 55-70 interchange located in Troy close to Illinois 162 as well as an additional $2.5m for construction engineering work.

Project work includes a renovated ramp, new bridge and retaining wall at the intersection.

Construction work on the $4m project for a new bridge on Interstate 255 that will pass through Alton bypass over Humbert Road is also expected to begin by next month and is expected to complete in two years’ time.

The third project, a $4.5m project for construction of a railroad subway off Illinois 3 located in Venice to Granville Street, is projected to start in September.
