Fatalities on Jamaican roads during Q1 2010 fell to their lowest levels for a decade, according to the Jamaican transport ministry’s road safety unit.

At the end of March there had been 73 deaths – a 26% decrease on the same period in 2009.

Fatal crashes also fell to 68 compared to 88 in 2009, a 23% decline and the lowest total for six years.

Motorcycle fatalities were also down 38% while bicyclist deaths dropped by 43%.
