The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has granted $100m in loans to upgrade the road network in Chongqing, China.

ADB’s funding will cover 47% of the total project cost, which is estimated to be worth $213.4m.

The projects involve work on 362km of roads, ranging from building new and improved roads to renovating roads destroyed during natural calamities.

The project is also expected to support innovative measures such as climate-proof designs for roads that incorporate drainage, erosion control and slope protection.

Work on the project is scheduled for completion in December 2015, according to ADB.
