The Toronto Port Authority will build a pedestrian tunnel to the Billy Bishop Toronto City Centre Airport in Ontario, Canada.

The 123m-long tunnel will be constructed 30m below the surface of Lake Ontario, according to toronto.ctv.ca.

The C$45m ($43.5m) tunnel project is expected to be funded through a public-private partnership and by applying for an airport improvement fee.

The environmental assessment for the project is underway.

Work on the structure is scheduled to begin in 2011 and is expected to take at least two years to complete.
