The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) will open a new section of Manukau station road on 1 November this year, which is part of the $220m Manukau extension motorway.

The new section will offer a direct link from Manukau city centre to Lambie Drive Interchange and the SH20 motorway.

The 4.5km Manukau extension project is a four-lane motorway that connects the Southwestern (SH20) and Southern Motorways (SH1) at Manukau city.

As part of the work, the agency is planning changes to Wiri station road in Manukau to improve connections in the area, in order to complete the new connection between SH1 and SH20 motorways.

The Manukau Extension motorway is being opened in three stages, the first of which was opened in August

The final section of the project, which includes constructing the connecting road between the Cavendish and Puhinui Interchanges, is set to be completed in December.
