INRIX, a US-based traffic information and intelligent driver services provider, has entered into a partnership with Chinese traffic information company CenNavi, to deliver real-time, predictive and historical traffic services in 28 cities across China.

The partnership will combine INRIX’s Traffic Intelligence Platform, vertical market expertise and connected services technologies with CenNavi’s real-time traffic information and technologies, domestic experience and automotive relationships.

It will provide premium traffic information, traffic-powered applications and analytics, which will allow automakers, government agencies, mobile app providers, wireless carriers, and media companies to improve mobility for travellers in China.

INRIX president and CEO Bryan Mistele said that the collaboration with CenNavi improves the company’s efforts to deliver premium, traffic information and driver services.

"By providing a singular global data format and technical interface, we’re simplifying auto manufacturers’ efforts to provide drivers with high-quality traffic information services worldwide," Mistele added.

Traffic congestion across major Chinese cities is increasing every day, with rising car sales leading to severe gridlock and pollution.

According to the Beijing Transportation Research Board, registered vehicles in the city are expected to increase to over 7 million in 2015, further straining the present road network’s capability.

CenNavi president Haijun Tao said that the company looks forward to working with INRIX, applying the combined expertise to solve the problem of traffic congestion in China.

INRIX’s technologies and traffic information services in the car, on smartphones, on broadcast news reports and in intelligent transportation systems, helps drivers to avoid delays, and they also strengthen the municipalities’ efforts to better manage traffic congestion across road networks.

CenNavi, affiliated to China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (SASC), is a traffic and travelling information service provider in China, providing services to 28 major cities nationwide.

Headquartered in Washington, INRIX operates global traffic intelligence platforms to deliver smart data and analytics for a traffic community of approximately 100 million drivers.
