Ohio-based traffic control services and equipment provider Area Wide Protective (AWP) has announced the acquisition of Advantage Barricade & RoadMarks (ABR), a New Mexico-based company, as well as Utah-based Traffic Safety Rentals.

Financial details of the deals have not been divulged.

AWP president and CEO John Sypek said: “ABR has been in business for 22 years, having developed a strong, professional operation with an impressive commitment to community and employee engagement.

“The impressive performance, history and strength of ABR makes it an ideal addition to the AWP network as we advance our growth strategy designed to better serve customers.”

The acquisition of ABR is stated to be in line with AWP’s national growth strategy and is also expected to further enhance its operations in the Western US region.

With the addition of ABR along with other recent acquisitions, AWP intends to further enhance its capabilities in traffic control services.

AWP added that it is now better positioned to support new and existing customers in the roadway maintenance, construction and utility industries in Western US.

Commenting on the TSR acquisition, Sypek said: “TSR has supported traffic control customers in the Salt Lake City and Ogden, Utah, markets with expert traffic control and plan development for 17 years.

“The impressive performance, history and strength of TSR makes it an ideal addition to the AWP network as we advance our growth strategy designed to better serve customers.”

After this addition of TSR along with other acquisitions, AWP currently operates more than 100 facilities, which are located across 23 states in the US and four Canadian provinces.
