Iteris has completed the takeover of Albeck Gerken, a US-based traffic operations and engineering services provider.

Under the agreement first announced last month, Albeck Gerken will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Iteris, which supplies applied informatics systems for the transportation industry.

All employees of Albeck Gerken have been absorbed by Iteris.

Iteris transportation systems senior vice-president and general manager Ramin Massoumi said: “We are excited to complete this transaction and move forward with the process of integrating Albeck Gerken into the Iteris family.

“Albeck Gerken’s highly respected team of traffic operations engineering and consulting experts will join an equally respected team of experts in planning, signal operation, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) design, integration and data analytics.

“The combined teams will provide unparalleled capabilities to improve safety and mobility for road users in Florida, the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic.”

Iteris paid a total of $10.7m in a combination of cash and stock and will pay a further $2.3m in other incentives over three years.

Albeck Gerken manages its own traffic management facility from its headquarters in Tampa. This facility also includes a traffic operations lab and training centre.

Iteris gathers, combines and analyses data on traffic, roads, weather, water, soil and crops to generate precise informatics that leads to safer transportation and farming.

In May, Iteris won a contract from OC 405 Partners to offer traffic manager support, construction operations and maintenance, and associated construction phase services for the I-405 Improvement Project in southern California.

In April, Transport Canada selected Iteris Performance Measurement System (iPeMS), a road network performance and management platform from Iteris to help enhance nationwide transportation.
