The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has launched the first phase of the Smart Parking Project at Al-Rigga and the World Trade Center areas in order to provide smart services to residents and visitors.

The project includes installation of smart parking sensors offered by Nedap, a provider of vehicle detection technologies.

Nedap has also implemented SENSIT, its smart parking platform, which includes smart parking sensors that provide real-time information about individual parking spaces in the Rigga area.

It also detects the vehicle occupancy status and duration of parking events at individual parking spaces.

The real-time occupancy information of sub-zones in the Rigga area is displayed in the RTA smartphone app, as well as on the dynamic message sign boards in Arabic and English.

The SENSIT system also allows payment of parking fees without the additional charge for SMS.

“The RTA has fully completed the project works at Al Rigga following the installation of about 2,000 smart parking sensors.”

RTA Traffic and Roads Agency CEO Maitha Mohammed Bin Adai said: “The RTA has completed the link of the central system with the basic components of the project in public parking in Dubai, as well as multi-level parking terminals and Dubai Mall car parking.

“Phase I of the link has been completed according to the planned timeline.

“The RTA has fully completed the project works at Al Rigga following the installation of about 2,000 smart parking sensors.

“The project is tailored to the needs of road users in view of the growing requirement of the public for using effective technological devices in dealing with the parking service.”

Smart Parking Project has been implemented by Dubai’s Energy International, which specialises in end-to-end service integration, project management and contracting for city-wide parking and public transportation infrastructure development.

RTA noted that the new parking service is aligned with its vision of providing Safe and Smooth Transport in the region.
