The US State of Texas will open the $122m Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge (LLTB) in August.

The bridge, to be operated by North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA), will connect Interstate Highway 35E and the Dallas North Tollway, cutting down travel time between Denton and Dallas.

The bridge features two lanes in each direction and a lighted, semi-circular arch near its centre which is tied together 58ft above its deck’s top, covering all four lanes. The arch’s top stands at 118ft above the lake surface.

The bridge also has an all-electronic toll collection system.

The bridge took three years to build and forms the second phase of the $233m project to build a 13.8 miles long Lewisville Lake corridor.

The corridor project is expected to be completed in 2013.
