The Venezuela-based Andean Development Corporation CAF (Corporación Andina de Fomento) has approved a $250m loan to Bolivia to finance highway expansion.

Money will be used towards expanding the 204km long and 7m wide highway linking the country’s capital city La Paz with Oruro.

The loan would cover up to 80% of the project’s total cost.

Once finished, the road expansion would help improve connectivity within the country as well as boost the economy in catchment areas.

The project is being carried out by the Bolivian Highway Administrator.
