The central section of M6 Phase III Motorway in Hungary has been opened for public transport.

Under the €520m ($701m) project eight traffic junctions were constructed to tie in the national public roads.

58 bridges including six viaducts measuring 160-632m and an operation and maintenance centre were built as part of the project.

The 65km-link, connecting Budapest to Pecs in the south of Hungary, also has a dual carriageway, according to worldhighways.com.

The M6 highway Phase III is being handled under a 30-year concession contract.

The contract work involves designing, building, financing, maintenance and operation of the highway.

Hungary-based M6 Tolna Autópálya Koncesszios Zrt is the concession company.
