Kenya will receive KES10bn ($128m) in funds from the European Union for the development of its roads.

Around KES9.3bn ($114m) of the grant will be allocated for upgrading 122km of the Merille-Marsabit road.

The road is part of the Nairobi-Addis Ababa highway and its renovation is expected to improve the regional economic integration.

About $9.7m of the grant is expected to be used for technical assistance and sector policy studies on roads, according to nation.co.ke.
